The Note #1 – On the Use of Time

Updated: Nov 4

In the 19th century, the Brazilian writer Machado de Assis observed something timeless:

“Time moves the same way, whether we waste it or use it well. What matters is not doing many things quickly, but doing many things that are pleasant or useful.”

It sounds simple — but it isn’t.

We live in an age obsessed with speed, where productivity has replaced presence. Yet Machado’s wisdom remains a quiet rebellion: time isn’t something to spend, it’s something to inhabit.

At Luvyk, we choose the latter.

Each gathering is an act of deliberate time — one book, one conversation, one shared silence that leaves you fuller than when you arrived.

Applications for our next circle are open briefly.

We won’t rush you — but time, as always, will move.

Warmly,
